Kapiti Island Trip Y7/8 - Postponed until Term 2

Date: 13th April 2022
Time: 7:30 am to 3:30 pm

7:30 am    Students to arrive at school, meeting with their teacher in their classroom. Mrs McMurchie and Mr Nolan will do a roll call, check that the students have everything they need, including medication from home

7:45 am    Students to depart school

8:15 am    Check-in at Kapiti Boating Club, Marine Parade, Paraparaumu


8:30 am    Room 11 depart for Kapiti Island (boat drops off Room 11 and returns for Room 12)

       Room 12 remain on mainland for the story of Kapiti Island (presented by experts)


9:15 am    Room 12 depart for Kapiti Island

       Room 11 remain on Kapiti Island for the story of Kapiti Island (presented by experts)


9:40 am    Both Room 11 and Room 12 have safety briefing on Kapiti Island


10:00 am    Both groups depart for their walk to the summit of Kapiti Island

Mr Nolan will lead the group

Mr Edmonds will be between Room 11 and Room 12

Jo Mason will lead Room 12

Mrs McMurchie will be at the back of the group

The children will have lunch once they have arrived at the summit.


12:00 pm    Begin the journey back down to the shore


1:30 pm    Room 11 departs for the Kapiti Boating Club (both drops off Room 11 and returns for Room 12)
       Room 12 remains on Kapiti Island for further bird-related activity


2:15 pm    Room 12 departs for the Kapiti Boating Club

       Room 11 remains on mainland with Mr Nolan for further beach-related activity


2:40 pm    Both Room 11 and Room 12 depart Kapiti Boating Club for their return to school


3:10 pm    It is expected that both classes will be back at school by 3:10pm


Reminders:

Your children will need to;

Bring a packed morning tea, lunch, water bottle x 2, sunscreen and fully brimmed hat

Have a suitable warm top for wearing in cold weather

Have a suitable rain jacket in the event of rain

Wear shoes that are suitable for a decent walk

Wear a face covering while traveling in cars and on boats (unless they have an exemption).

If your child has medication that is not held at school - please remember to send it to school with them
